On Friday, August 11, 2023, Strada Van Lith 1 Elementary School celebrated Scout Day and the 78th anniversary of Indonesia’s independence. To commemorate Scout Day and Indonesia’s independence, Strada Van Lith 1 Elementary School held various interesting and fun competitions for grades I to VI. All students wore red-themed clothes to complete the celebration of Scout Day and Indonesia’s independence. This activity was done as a manifestation of love for the homeland. Before doing the Scout Day and Independence Day activities, all students from grades I to VI gathered together on the field to carry out the morning assembly together. The morning assembly activity began with a prayer led by Mrs. Wulan, who is the classroom teacher of IIIC. Mrs. Wulan also delivered a message to the students of Strada Van Lith 1 Elementary School to bring healthy provsion, the four healthy five perfect groups, and conveyed that the provision that had been brought must be eaten up during break time and should not be left over to appreciate those who prepared the provision.

After the morning assembly activity, Mrs. Widhi invited all students to sing the scout march, scout clap and coconut sprout clap together. In addition, Mrs. Widhi told about the World Guide or World Scout Father, namely Mr. Baden Powell.

Then all students from grades I to VI participated in competitions to commemorate Scout Day and Independence Day. The competition activities were divided into two groups, namely the small class group consisting of grades I to III and the large class group consisting of grades IV to VI.

The competitions for the small class group consisted of a puzzle competition for the scout emblem and a rubber relay using a straw. The first, second and third grade students maintained concentration so that the rubber on the straw did not fall. In addition, the children also worked together to arrange puzzles so that the puzzles could form a picture of the scout emblem. The first to third grade students were very enthusiastic and excited in participating in the competition, as well as supporting their friends who were doing rubber relay competitions with straws or arranging puzzles for scout emblems.

Then the competitions for the large class group consisted of a hula hoop relay and moving balls. During the competition activities, the fourth to sixth grade students were also no less enthusiastic and excited in participating in hula hoop relays and moving balls. The children worked together in doing the competition so that the hula hoop could move from the first person to the last person and worked together to maintain balance in moving ball competitions so that the ball did not fall. The fourth to sixth grade students felt happy and excited while participating in the competition.

The competition activity ended with an announcement of the winners of the competition and after that all students lined up according to their class, then the children returned to their respective classes with their classroom teachers. After returning to their respective classes, all students did activities that had been prepared by their respective classroom teachers. The event celebrating Scout Day and Indonesia’s 78th Independence Day was very lively and fun. Students, teachers and staff felt happy and involved in realizing love for their homeland.
